Fall is right around the corner and that means it’s time to switch up your summer skin-care routine. Follow these five skin care tips and you’ll be sure to be glowing right into winter.
GIVE SKIN THE SPA TOUCH
Power up your face-washing routine with this rotating cleansing brush that derms are BUZZING about.
“The micro-massaging bristles help loosen trapped makeup and dirt without additional scrubbing,” says Tina Alster, MD, clinical professor of dermatology at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC. “Plus, we’ve seen conditions like acne and rosacea start to clear up when these brushes are used.”
MAKE OVER YOUR MAKEUP
If you’re not hooked on mineral makeup, now’s the time to get in on this healthy trend. The latest mineral finds boast good-for-your-skin ingredients like soybean extract and seaweed, in addition to being free of preservatives, synthetics, and artificial oils.
Try Bobbi Brown’s first mineral product, a foundation (Bobbi Brown Mineral Makeup SPF 15, $38; ), and the new pressed mineral eye shadow from Bare Minerals, shown (Bare Minerals Ready Eyeshadow 2.0 or 4.0, $20 and $30 respectively; )
SOFTEN YOUR SKIN WITH OIL
Heavy creams aren’t the only way to hydrate when the weather, and your skin, get dry. Facial oils are just as moisturizing, and sink in quicker—meaning you don’t have to wait long to apply makeup.
Tammy Fender, a facialist in Palm Beach says, “they’re packed with hydrating fatty acids and feel very light.”
MOISTURIZE EVERY DAY
You must hydrate your skin on a daily basis. The best time to apply your lotion is right after you’ve dried off after your shower or bath. Seal in the moisture that’s already been absorbed into your skin.
ORGANIZE YOUR SKIN CARE ROUTINE
With facial masks, facial exfoliators and other extra skin care steps, it can be hard to remember when you applied your last peel or took the time for your last mask. This is a problem or irritation that you won’t ever have to worry about if you take the time to make a skin care routine.
If you know that every Sunday morning you’ll apply a facial mask, and Tuesdays and Fridays are saved for exfoliating, you’ll no longer have to think about it. Make your schedule for the days that work best for you and stick with it.
