We’ve arrived at spring, so it’s time to change up your usual eating routine, and start getting yourself ready for the warmer months ahead.  Here in Florida it’s really easy to assume that the weather never changes, so you don’t have to change your routines, but that’s just not so!  We may not go from snow to sunshine, but we do go from light breezes and 60 degrees to intense humidity and 95 degrees, and you have to prepare accordingly!  You can start by adjusting your diet in simple ways that make your skin healthier and shinier.  Here are a few simple tips to get started doing just that from Yahoo!

1. Load up on greens. Whether you want to whip up a smoothie or just load up your plate with some fresh veggies, spring is a great time to increase your daily intake of greens. Spinach and kale are some of the most versatile greens to add to your diet – add them to smoothies or just make a large salad with these leafy greens for a dose of nutrients that can help you maintain a healthy glow this season.

2. Stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water throughout the day can help your body run more efficiently and keep your skin in great shape. Get into the habit of drinking more water and eating a variety of foods that have a high water content. The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture lists apples, apricots, bananas, blueberries, broccoli, and cabbage as foods that contain large quantities of water. All of these foods are also a good source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

3. Add more healthy fats to your diet. Dr. Nicholas Perricone recommends eating a variety of anti-inflammatory foods to maintain radiant skin. Eating foods that are contain healthy fats is one way to keep your skin radiant and glowing. Get into the habit of eating cold water fish a few times a week, or adding some nuts and seeds to your salads and other snacks for a boost of healthy fats.
